News: Centurion Wrestling Gymnasium presents the “Alibeg Vechedov Open Tournament”
On 8 August 2009 the Centurion Club will present one of the highlights of the wrestling calendar, when 20 wrestlers from the USA and 11 wrestlers from Namibia will join around 400 others from all corners of the country to compete in one of the most prestigious tournaments of the South African wrestling circuit in the well known Nothern Gauteng Wrestling Hall in Menlopark. Last year wrestlers from Russia and the island of Reunion participated as our guests and they will be remembered for a long time to come.
The tournament is named after the club’s head coach and “Master of Sport”, Alibeg Vechedov, who moved to Centurion in 1998 and since then trained numerous SA champions. His focus on technique and fitness has rippled out from Centurion and most wrestlers today know what a “Russian Roll” and Caborra is.
